“As a creative image maker, it is my mission to capture moments that speak for themselves or when combined can tell a story. Images that are visually compelling, captivating and that evoke emotion, astonishment or admiration.”
Hello there, I am Peter and I love taking pictures
I am a self-taught architectural and fine art photographer living in Belgium with my partner Anja, daughter Kirsten and sweet cat that listens to the name Noxy.
How it all started
Back in the (good) old days I started my creative career in web design and development. In those days, internet was accessible through a modem, slow, in its infancy and a brand new world to explore. Got my hands on a Power Macintosh G3 desktop model that would serve as a web server and at the home office the Power Macintosh G3 Mini Tower. Adobe Photoshop 4 was installed and Pixel Design was born and operational. That was in 1997.
In that era, photography was still analogue but I was already triggered by what you could do with a camera. Besides the photographs that were taken on holiday I also explored the possibilities with concert photography.
The rise of digital photography
Later on, I got my hands on an entry level digital camera from Canon. The possibility to take photos, download them to the computer and get them processed in Photoshop opened up a whole new world.
But I was still busy with Pixel Design and besides web design and development, I also provided hosting services and email security. So photography wasn’t something that I was really into on a commercial or full time level.
However, the entry level camera did make room for a more expensive Canon camera after a few years. But about six months later I met someone who had a Canon 5D MkII and then it started to get interesting. Went to the shop and got myself that powerful workhorse. Very soon after that I did some model photography and was exploring the opportunities to use it in my business. And at that point, wedding photography came into the picture.
Photography as a business
The wedding photography started slowly and builded up momentum in 2018 and 2019. Did +25 wedding shoots per year, rented out more than 45 photobooths and had several other type of photoshoots on the agenda.
In that period I also started with real estate photography in my business. As hobby I also explored landscape photography and on holidays I always made some time to do sunset shoots.
In 2000 I started working full time for a real estate company ERA Wonen in Belgium and in 2022 I did my last wedding shoot. After 8 years it was time to make a change.
A new chapter
During my whole life I switch several times from being full time self-employed to the combination of employee and self-employed person in secondary occupation.
Today, I work full time in the security sector and combine my photography business. I focus on architectural photography and fine art photography.
This allows me to be more creative and do what I love to do most.
CREATE.
